Announcement: U.S. Military Aircraft Flights in Nicosia F.I.R.

The United States Embassy notes that all U.S military flights operating in international airspace within the Nicosia Flight Information Region follow or exceed all applicable international procedures to ensure that air safety in the region is maintained.  The United States government is committed to ensuring that U.S. military flights in international air space near Cyprus operate with due regard for the safety of civilian aircraft in the area.

The Embassy has discussed this matter with the Government of Cyprus and stands ready to address any specific safety concerns Cypriot authorities may have.  The United States Government has also identified appropriate direct communication channels for Cypriot authorities to use with the U.S. Navy should circumstances warrant.
