Nonimmigrant Visa

Temporary Employment or Trainee

Applicants for temporary work visas should follow normal application procedures at How to apply for a Nonimmigrant Visa.

For more information about H visas please click here.

Permission to work in the United States must be obtained through the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The Embassy does not have the authority to grant work permits.

Questions about petitioning procedures, qualifications for various classifications, and conditions and limitations on employment should be made by the prospective employer or agent in the United States to the nearest USCIS office.

The Embassy can only help you after the USCIS has approved your petition for a work permit.
