IMMIGRANT VISA

GENERAL INFORMATION


An immigrant visa is required of anyone who wishes to enter the United States to reside there permanently, whether or not that person plans to seek employment in the United States. U.S. immigration law provides for the issuance of immigrant visas in four general categories:

  1. Immediate Relative (Spouse, Minor Child under 21 years of age and Parent of US Citizen)
    US citizens residing in Cyprus for at least 6 months, may file an I-130 petition for immediate relative directly at the Embassy in Nicosia. Proof of residency is required.
    NOTE: US citizens not residing in Cyprus for at least 6 months, must submit an I-130 petition to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service Center (USCIS) having jurisdiction over place of residence.
  2. Family Based
  3. Employment Based
  4. Diversity Immigrant Visa Program
