U.S. Embassy Nicosia Hosts Whitehead Scholars

March 7, 2007

On March 7, U.S. Embassy Nicosia hosted a delegation of over 20 visiting students, faculty and staff from Seton Hall's Whitehead School of Diplomacy and International Relations. The mission was led by Whitehead Dean and Ambassador John Menzies. The day opened with a panel discussion on the Cyprus issue at the J.W. Fulbright Center in the U.N.-patrolled buffer zone with Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot university students. In the afternoon, Ambassador Ronald Schlicher and Embassy officers briefed the group on U.S. policy issues specific to Cyprus and discussed the organization of an American embassy. The day closed with a lively evening reception at the Ambassadorial Residence, where the visiting scholars mingled with dignitaries and local students.
