The Student Loan bluegrass ensemble toured Cyprus as part of the Rhythm Road program. Bluegrass music is a form of American roots music, and is a sub-genre of country music. Traditional bluegrass is typically based around acoustic stringed instruments, such as mandolin, acoustic guitar, banjo, fiddle, and upright bass, with or without vocals. The Student Loan brought their unique sound to secondary schools in Nicosia and Limassol where they played concerts, conducted workshops and even had jam sessions with locals. They also visited an university and played for music students there. Two public concerts were held in Nicosia, along with a reception at the Ambassador's residence. |
