Bicommunal Workshop for High School Counselors
in Observation of International Education Week 2007

The session was conducted in English and included two presentations by Ms. Evelyn Levinson, Director of International Admissions, American University, Washington, D.C. who was the guest speaker. In observation of International Education Week 2007, the Cyprus Fulbright Commission, offered its annual Bi-communal Workshop for High School Counselors at the J.W. Fulbright Center on November 14 from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm. Approximately sixty high school counselors from both private and public high schools participated in the workshop.

 

The workshop provided counselors with an update on U.S. higher education, testing news and information on the Commission’s upcoming programs. The session was conducted in English and included two presentations by Ms. Evelyn Levinson, Director of International Admissions, American University, Washington, D.C. who was the guest speaker.

 

The workshop provided counselors with an update on U.S. higher education, testing news and information on the Commission’s upcoming programs.Among other things, Ms. Levinson addressed the issue of increased competition from European universities and highlighted that a U.S. education is possible and that scholarships and quality are available, using American University in Washington, D.C. as an example.

 

Mr. Tom Miller, Chairman of the Cyprus Fulbright Commission and Mr. Daniel Hadjittofi, Executive Director of the Commission, welcomed the workshop participants and delivered speeches.

 

The workshop was successful and we received very positive evaluations from the participants.

Among other things, Ms. Levinson addressed the issue of increased competition from European universities and highlighted that a U.S. education is possible and that scholarships and quality are available, using American University in Washington, DC as an example
