On October 30, the United States Embassy donated a vehicle with built-in X-ray equipment to the Customs Authority of the Republic of Cyprus. The donation was made in the spirit of cooperation between the governments of the U.S. and Cyprus to combat terrorism and the trafficking of sensitive substances. Ambassador Frank C. Urbancic donated the vehicle to Customs officials at the port of Limassol in the presence of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Mr. Christos Patsalides and the Director of the Cyprus Customs Authority, Ms. Zeta Emilianidou.

Mr. Patsalides and Ms. Emilianidou thanked the U.S. Government for the donation and stressed the importance that the Government of Cyprus pays to international cooperation for the control of illegal trafficking of sensitive items and narcotics, and the combating of terrorism.

Ambassador Urbancic expressed his thanks to the Government of Cyprus for their help combating the trafficking of sensitive substances and drugs. "We are in a common fight against these items, and it is very much in our mutual interest to cooperate with you. I can tell you that the United States is with you, and we will continue to support you in any way we can," Ambassador Urbancic said.
