Dr. Cheri Florance, an award-winning autism brain engineering researcher and mother of a child initially diagnosed as autistic who has subsequently achieved spectacular educational success, visited Cyprus in November at the request of the Ministry of Education to share insights gained from her research. During her week-long visit, Dr. Florance conducted workshops for students preparing to teach special needs children, spoke to parents and relatives of autistic children about her personal story and the visual approach to education she uses in her laboratory, and met with First Lady Elsie Christophia to discuss their shared commitment to providing support for parents of children with special needs.
