Cyprus Celebrates World Press Freedom Day with Journalist Symposium
During May 3-5, 2008, forty-five eminent journalists from both communities in Cyprus as well as from Greece and Turkey attended the third Journalist Symposium held in Istanbul, Turkey to discuss current developments in Cyprus as well as on the role of the media with respect to its power to shape public opinion. Participants also examined recent conflict in Turkey and its consequences for Cyprus and the region. Debate continued during coffee breaks and meals. [more]

Mary Baldwin College Students Visit U.S. Embassy Nicosia
On Wednesday, April 30, a group of 24 students and Professors from the all-women’s Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Virginia, visited U.S. Embassy Nicosia. The group of visiting students, led by Professors Andreas Anastasiou and John Kibler, attended briefings given by several Embassy sections describing their work. This was the fourth visit of a Mary Baldwin College group to Embassy Nicosia. [more]
